GMYT Fashion Academy Hostel Policy
1.0 General Overview
The GMYT Hostel Apartment Policy is committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and structured
environment for all students. This policy outlines the rules and guidelines that govern hostel life, ensuring
orderliness, security, hygiene, and discipline.
All students must adhere strictly to these rules to maintain a conducive and respectful community.
Violations of these policies may result in disciplinary action, including warnings, fines, suspension, or
eviction from the hostel.
2.0 Accommodation & Living Arrangements
2.1 Bed Space & Personal Items
● Each student is responsible for bringing their own mattress, bedsheets, pillows, blankets, and
other personal items such as buckets, toiletries, and utensils.
● The hostel only provides bunk beds—students must ensure their sleeping area is well-
maintained.
● Each student must tidy and clean their bed space daily and upload a picture with a brief note
and the date in the Hostel Google Classroom as proof of compliance.
2.2 Common Room & Sit-Out Rules
● A common room is available for students to relax, study, or engage in group activities. However,
noise levels must be kept minimal.
● Sit-outs are not allowed after 10:00 PM—all students must be inside their rooms by this time.
● Loud music, disruptive behavior, or loitering around the premises after curfew is strictly
prohibited.
2.3 Kitchen & Cooking Arrangements
● The hostel has a common kitchen, and students must use it responsibly.
● All cooking utensils must be cleaned immediately after use. Any student who leaves dirty
utensils will be penalized.
● Students must coordinate contributions for gas refills to ensure a smooth cooking process.
The hostel management will assign a responsible student to oversee gas refills.
● Cooking in hostel rooms is strictly prohibited.
3.0 Cleanliness & Hygiene
3.1 Daily Cleaning Routine
● Each student must keep their personal space clean and organized.
● Daily cleaning includes sweeping, arranging bed spaces, disposing of trash properly, and
keeping common areas tidy.
3.2 General Sanitation (Every Saturday)
● Every Saturday is designated for deep cleaning.
● Students must participate in cleaning their rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas.
● Janitors will conduct deep cleaning of shared spaces, but students must contribute to
maintaining cleanliness.
3.3 Waste Management
● Waste bins are provided and must be used properly. Littering inside the hostel is strictly
prohibited.
● Trash must be disposed of in designated areas only—students must not dump waste in
unauthorized places.
4.0 Security & Safety
4.1 Security Checks & Restricted Items
● Routine security checks will be conducted by hostel management.
● The following restricted items are not allowed in the hostel:
○ Electric cookers, heaters, and unauthorized appliances.
○ Drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, or any illegal substances.
○ Weapons or any sharp objects that pose a security risk.○ Candles, incense, or open flames (due to fire hazards).
● Any student caught with restricted items will face immediate disciplinary action.
4.2 Curfew & Movement Restrictions
● Curfew time is 10:00 PM. All students must be inside the hostel by this time.
● No student is allowed to leave the hostel premises without prior permission.
● Unauthorized movement beyond designated hours is strictly prohibited.
5.0 Discipline & Conduct
5.1 Fighting, Bullying & Harassment
● Fighting, bullying, verbal abuse, and physical confrontations will not be tolerated.
● Any student involved in violence or harassment will face serious disciplinary actions, including
eviction.
● Respect for fellow students, staff, and management is mandatory.
5.2 Relationships & Boundaries
● No romantic relationships between male and female students are allowed within the hostel
premises.
● No student is allowed inside the opposite gender’s hostel.
● No personal relationships between students and staff—strictly professional boundaries must
be maintained.
● Students are not allowed inside staff rooms.
6.0 Visitors & External Relations
6.1 Visitor Restrictions
● Visitors are strictly prohibited from entering student rooms.
● All meetings with visitors must be held in designated common areas.
● Male visitors are not allowed in the female hostel, and vice versa.
● Unauthorized guests found in the hostel will lead to strict disciplinary actions against the
student responsible.
7.0 Attendance & Exit Policy
7.1 Movement & Permissions
● Any student leaving the hostel overnight must submit a written request 24 hours in advance
for approval.
● Students must sign in and out when leaving or returning.
8.0 Hostel Google Classroom
● A Google Classroom will be used for hostel coordination, updates, and compliance tracking.
● All students must join the Hostel Google Classroom and actively participate in updates.
● Failure to comply with rules posted in the Google Classroom will lead to penalties.
9.0 Enforcement & Disciplinary Actions
● Violations of any hostel rules will result in disciplinary measures, including:
○ Warnings
○ Fines
○ Suspension
○ Eviction from the hostel
● The hostel management reserves the right to take disciplinary action against any student found
guilty of misconduct.
